North County 1 V Malahide 1
North County 1 and Malahide 1 battled it out in a thrilling encounter at Inch, on Thursday evening. North County eventually came out on top in the first division clash, but their 30 run victory was not as comfortable as the scoreboard would suggest. North County captain, Eddie Richardson won the toss and decided to bat first in the 20 over encounter. North County got off to a slow start, losing Sheil for 7 and over-seas professional Parchment for 6, early in the innings. Conor Armstrong ensured the innings ran smoothly with his steady 53 off 40 balls. He was eventually stumped by Malahide wicket-keeper Fintan McAllister of the bowling of Allessandro Morris. At this stage, Malahide were on top and North County had plenty of work to do. Captain Richardson came in at five and hit 24 off 23. Nathan Rooney finished off the County innings with 10 from 4 balls, as the home side posted 125-5. The total at that stage looked a below par score. Malahide got off to a good start before Felix Page was removed by Parchment for 10. Fintan McAllister and Will Kindley shared a healthy partnership of 33 before the latter was run out by a fantastic piece of fielding by Fionn Hand. However, McAllister motored on and was the thorn in the North County side for a period of time. But after he was eventually removed for 30, and Riches (4) and Strydon (2) departed as well, the match swung in North County’s favour. A piece of individual brilliance from Eddie Richardson removed Malahide’s middle order. The skipper took 4 wickets in one over as Malahide collapsed from 80-5 to 92-9. Parchment finished things off and Malahide were all out for 95, sealing a 30 run victory for the home team.
