2nd Team Preview

YMCA are the visitors for the 2nd team's curtain raiser this Sunday at Inch, the first of seven 20 over games they will play in the Tillain Cup in this shortened season.

Despite the unfortunate delay to the beginning of the season, the 2nd team are raring to go. Ryan Tobin has taken over the reins from Sean Sludds this year and he is looking forward to captaining the side for the first time.

"We have a young squad this year which is great to see and personally it is a really exciting time to be able to get the opportunity to skipper the 2nd team along with the help of Yossi as vice captain, who will help a lot with his experience, and I will be in touch with Sean Sludds who done a great job the past few years as captain." Just like 1st team captain Eddie Richardson, Ryan praised the impact senior coach John Mooney has had at the club so far.

"It is great for the lads to have such a great coach in John Mooney at the helm. We have learned a lot from him already and will continue to do so with his wealth of experience and knowledge."

There will be a youthful look to the 2nd team this year and our new skipper is hopeful they can have an impact, not just this year, but also in years to come for the club.

"With young lads like opening batsman John Devane, wicketkeeper batsman Luke Whelan, and other up and coming youngsters like Ben McBride, Ciarán Sheridan and Keegan Laing, it should be a great year for the lads and it is an exciting prospect for the future."

Make sure to come down to Inch for a 2pm start on Sunday, for what promises to be an exciting fixture against last season's Division 3 winners.
