The 2nd Team have a new captain in Ankit Gugale this season. Here is what he has had to say about his new role, and his hopes for the 2nd team this season.
"As a team we are very much looking forward to the season. The team is eager to get on the pitch to play some quality cricket, considering the obstacles we have had due to Covid.
"We have a good mix of players who have been steady on 2nd team for a while now, with likes Anto, Manmeet, Mikey, and myself, plus the inclusions of new youth players stepping up like Ciaran, John and Ben.
"The young folks are great addition to squad as they are all proper batsmen, and will pretty much be our top order for the season. Our bowling attack is pretty much the same as last year, and has been consistent over the last few years. Overall, the team has a great combination of youth and senior players.
"We as a team just want to go out and express ourselves, and strive to win as many games as we can. The lads are roaring to kick off the season on high!"
The 2nd team will play their first game of the season this Sunday when they host Knockharley at Inch at 2pm.
