The 4th team will begin their season tomorrow when they take on Swords, as they commence their 6 game campaign in this year's Whelan Cup.
Foram Mehta is the man in charge once again this year and he is hopeful about his side's prospects this summer.
"We had a great season in 2019 with some kids contributing to wins and some real great effort for close losses, with the opposition teams offering their appreciation to the brilliant kids we had in our 4th team last year! After a rather long winter and a frustrating lockdown, we will be back for the SportsHub Whelan Cup."
He also noted the significant role the 4th team plays in helping younger players make the transition from youth cricket to mens cricket and is committed to ensuring the 4th team continues to provide an environment for young talent to flourish.
"We’ve delivered Daniel Mooney and a returning Ciaran Mackey up to the 3rd team, and the young gun Keegan Laing up to the 2nd team since last year. As usual we are focused towards offering a platform for our young guns to develop as team players and responsible young adults, and having fun too! We’ve got great confidence in young lads such as Ryan Graham, Rohit Singh, Ciaran Rowe and Srijan Yerramsetti to start knocking the doors down for selection on the 3rd team in this short season in the short version of the game. We will also see the debut of young Umair Bombaywa, Joseph Johnson and a returning Evan Mehta from the Juvenile section."
"With the aul ones, we have Paddy Mann back with the ball and Kash Butt with his bat and electric fielding. We also have a player returning to NCCC in Venu Bijjam."
Foram finished off in typically positive fashion by saying, "All in all, putting emphasis towards physical and mental wellness and comradery, the 4th team will make the most of this short season!"
