We are delighted to announce, that after a long winter (the one that started at the end of the 2016 Season) our 5th team are back and this time with pre-2015 captain Foram Mehta. Here are a few words from the man at the helm of this resurrected ship!
"Over the years the 5ths have been a brilliant springboard for young talent to get their start at Senior Cricket, and I am proud to see so many young guns that were preteens now in the 3rd, 2nd and 1st teams. This year I intend to continue the efforts to bring the young and the old through a fun filled competitive cricket season.
"This season, we have young guns such as Johan George spinning a web, Jake Devane, Sufian Qazi, Evan Whyte and Umair Bombaywala, Evan Mehta, Alex Denver and Alfred Bowas contributing with bat and ball and a cheeky comment here and there.
"I will be joined by Kashif Butt as the vice-captain with Srini Yerramsetti Venu Bijjam, Ahmed Khalid, Salman Arshad, Venkat Kodali, Kunal Dey, Ciaran Rowe, Talha Azhar, Zahid Obaidy and Samad Khan from the 18+ year group!
"A great mix of young and old, the 5th XI will be ready to offer a competitive and fun filled season and our many thanks to the administration, grounds team (home and away) to make it all happen for us."
The 5th team lost their opening fixture of the season on Monday against Tyrrelstown, but they are back in action with a home match against Swords on Saturday at 5pm, in the second of six Russell Court Trophy games.
