McBride stars in narrow defeat to Adamstown

Updated: Jun 24, 2019

Ben McBride scored his maiden century for our 3rd team today as they lost to Adamstown 3rds by two wickets. After skipper Pritish Onmalwar won the toss and chose to bat first, North County lost early wickets and found themselves in trouble at 12-2 and 29-3. However, well supported by Ciaran Sheridan who made 41, Ben McBride set about rebuilding the County innings. He found the boundary with great regularity, scoring 13 fours and went at a good pace too, taking just 98 balls to score his ton. No one else could pass double figures though as we were all out for 180. Adamstown's top order found batting just as tricky, finding themselves four down with less than 50 on the board. They rallied however to 120-4 with a strong 5th wicket partnership, a platform which looked to be setting up a comfortable victory. Depsite a few quick-fire wickets, including a first North County scalp for Rasen Naidoo, Adamstown reached their target with just two wickets remaining. The 3rds have two weeks to take stock before their next fixture when they travel to play Slieve Bloom.
