Our Junior A team took on Balbriggan on Friday evening at Inch in a well contested league fixture.
Balbriggan won the toss and elected to bat first. A fine bowling display, aided by some excellent fielding and a solid performance from Evan Mehta behind the stumps, saw the visitors restricted to 81 all out. Evan Whyte picked up 3-13 from his four overs and Ryan Graham claimed 3-15, while Srijan Yerramsetti and Johan George both took a wicket each.
Srijan and Ryan opened the batting and made a strong start to the run chase. The openers made 29 and 20 respectively before they were both out caught. However, the good platform they provided meant a large chunk had been taken off the target. This allowed Umair Bombay (10*) and Joseph Johnson (5*) to come in and finish off the game swiftly, sealing a comfortable seven wicket win for County.
Well done to all players of both sides who participated in an entertaining game played in good spirits. This match was just the beginning of a wonderful bank holiday weekend of cricket, which sees all four of our men's teams in action. For more information about this weekend's fixtures click here.
